A nurse to me is an individual that is well-rounded, trust worthy, and inspirational. When I decided to become a nurse there was nothing in my life that had pointed me in this direction. As of yesterday I found out why I becoming a nurse. Unfortunately my dad has cancer; this situation has led me to believe that I am meant to be a nurse. I feel that it is my duty both as a daughter and a future nurse to put everything and anything that I know as both roles to help my dad through this difficult time. After helping my dad through this situation I think that I will have a different outlook on my patients then I would have without personally caring for someone that I truly love. My dad is one of the people that I am closest to in this world and as of yesterday he has all my wishes and my love to help him through this time that he WILL make it through with the help of his family. Love you dad <3!!>

Hi Katie!
I think that helping your dad through this difficult time is going to make you both a stronger person and a stronger nurse. You are going to be a wonderful nurse and will make an impact on people's lives. You, your dad and your family are all in my prayers and I am sure everything will be fine! Hang in there Katie, nursing is your calling and I can't wait to see what kind of nurse you will be in four years when we all graduate!:)
Hi Katie!
I think it is so great that you are doing this for your father! You are such an amazing person and I know with your hard work and your determination you will be a great nurse. I can honestly say that my dad is one of the reasons why I want to be a nurse also. He had cancer and was struggling all my life and passed away only two saturdays ago. We were so close and I miss him so much already, but I know he will always be with me. He is what pushes me to work through the stress of this program becuase in the end I want to help people as a nurse and make my dad proud. Continue to be strong and I am here if you need any support. Take care :)
